Translational Molecular Imaging & Therapy/Oncology/Neuroimaging: 18F-DOPA and Radiolabelled Choline PET in Recurrent Glioblastoma

Educational Objectives:
At the end of this educational session, the participants will be able to define the differentialdiagnosis between recurrence of glioblastoma and pseudoprogression, by using functional(MRI) and metabolic (18F-DOPA or radiolabeled choline PET/CT or PET/MRI) imagingmodalities.

The aim of the present session is to illustrate the utility of functional and metabolic imagingin detecting the recurrence of disease in patients with glioblastomas. Usually, after surgicaland radiation therapy approaches, the morphological characteristics of brain are completelychanged and therefore the differential diagnosis between recurrent disease andpseudoprogression is difficult to assess. In this session, we will present and discusscomplementary information provided by MRI, PET/CT and PET/MRI with metabolicradiopharmaceutical agents (18F-DOPA and Choline) and their role for the identification ofrecurrent glioblastoma.
